ASSP spamfilter has some new capabilities

My favorite spamfilter - ASSP - has some new facilities in the latest version.

My favourite these days is the ability to send a email to the dummy address "asspblock" in the format "user@server=>receivinguser" sends you a detailed list of all emails for the particular user that have been blocked, and gives the receiving user the ability to forward these messages to the user...

I should obviously stop writing about the amount of spam our little mailserver receives, as the amount as gone up by approx. 300% since last time I wrote about it :

This is just mindblowingly stupid - 98.3% spam!!! and 2350 emails per day!

The growth of spam on a small server

It's really quite staggering how much spam we receive on our home server - see the following screenshot from our Spam filter (ASSP) :

So at the moment it amounts to around 1000 emails received per day - and in excess of 98% of these were Spam so far today - over a much longer period 96.5% of all emails received since September 2008 have been classified as spam!

For some reason we get a lot of spam sent to our home email server - how can a server used by a family receive around 750 spam emails per day??

My favourite SPAM fighting solution (ASSP) has (quietly) been upgraded to a new version - even though the ASSP home page gives no indication of this.

I've just downloaded it and will try to install later on today.

ASSP - stable spam prevention

This is what I like to see :

ASSP has been running for months with no problems, and very little human intervention. As a SPAM prevention filter for (in my case) OsX server, it has been a really pleasant surprise, with very modest CPU requirements, and a very high efficiency once the initial training has been done.

I am somewhat intrigued by the big spike just after Mollom was introduced, followed by the sharp drop in spam.
